Chromolithograph on paper. Framed dimensions are 18.5 x 22.5 inches

Between 1874 and 1876, Louis Prang, a Boston Publisher who commissioned Moran to provide images of the West, issued this work as one of fifteen chromolithographs in a series titled "The Yellowstone National Park, and the Mountain Regions of Portions of Idaho, Nevada, Colorado and Utah."

Peter Marzio, the respected chromolithography historian, commented on the Yellowstone Series stating that "each chromo is a masterpiece. This is Prang's greatest work and represents the high tide of chromolithography in America."
